Nelscott Reef Pro 2018/19 Season Open

Hello everyone! First of all thanks for being interested in Nelscott Reef Surf and checking out this article. Growing up surfing in Coos Bay Oregon, Nelscott and Oregon have always been a place that made me very proud.  Being part of the Nelscott events has been one of the coolest things I have ever been part of to be honest.

This year we are planning things differently. Overall, it should be a much bigger turnout. We have put together a better plan to manage the logistics, and are calling on A LOT of support from the community.  From Arcata CA, to Seaside OR, folks from the whole coastline are helping out!

We will be bringing you more great video and pics this year from folks like Richard Hallman and Jon Monroe as well as many more as the season goes on.  So be sure to check the site and social media often to stay updated.

On competition day we will be working with the STACT App. This will allow us to internationally keep everyone updated on the scores in real time, and even some clips live from the day of the event.  Competitors WILL be part of the judging process.

We also will be doing as much media as possible for us to capture this event. From drones to long lenses we will be capturing the day. Nelscott is impossible to get a boat out to video on event day, so a Live webcast is pretty tough to pull off without a ton of money is the reality.

We encourage people to come and watch, however there is not a lot of parking and you have to be there really early to see the action from shore.  We will post some really great ways to make this event more visible if you can’t make it over the next couple weeks. We will also explain the best hotels and houses to stay at for viewing, and which ones are offering public discounted rates to the adventurous people that can make it. So just stay tuned and we will post that info in the weeks ahead.

For those folks that actually come, we will be doing an evening after party open to the public. All that days videos that we can compile, as well as some you may not have seen before from years past will be shown!  There will be raffles and prizes for the public,  and the trophies will be given out to the competitors. Location will be announced before event.

I would like to thank Bahama Buds, Robys Furniture, and Oregonic Tonic Kombucha for stepping up first by getting us going and making this year a reality!

We have of course Pre arranged the event with the City of Lincoln City, including the required LC business license and event permits are in hand through the end of 2019.
