Emi is know for paddling out in the cold waters in the Pacific during one of the heaviest swells Maverick’s has seen in years on December 20th, 2014. At last year’s first WSL women’s big-wave competition at Jaws, on Maui’s north shore, Erickson tore her ACL, MCL, quad, and calf muscle.
